For many parents, the word conjures up happy images of warm days at the beach or pool, pick-up baseball games, and long, lazy evenings spent with friends and family.
But summer also has a way of getting away from us if we aren’t mindful.
We start the vacation with the best of intentions, planning to go on new adventures, to reenforce core values and to build memories that last a lifetime. Yet, at the end of summer, we often find that we never quite got around to much of what we planned.
This blog is designed to help me ensure that this summer, when my son is six and my daughter is seven, will be lived intentionally. And at the end of the summer, I hope three of our core values — generosity, gratitude and exploration — will have been examined, reenforced and celebrated.
Like all blogs, it is a project that will inevitably evolve. New interests and passions may surface. Or we may realize that some of our original priorities don’t quite fit. Growth and change will occur — as it should.
Whatever twists and turns we take, we look forward to sharing this summertime journey with you, and we welcome you to share your own ideas along the way.
